Spaghetti Bolognese | A family favourite recipe

Even typing this post and staring at the photo is just making my mouth water. Yummy. Spaghetti Bolognese is a family favourite of ours that we enjoy pretty much once a week, mostly on a Monday or a Tuesday.

I thought I’d share our recipe so you can enjoy it just as much as we do! The recipe I follow and tweak a little is actually a Slimming World recipe so if you’re already doing Slimming World you may be familiar with it. If you’re not doing Slimming World then why not try it anyway for a healthier alternative to those jars of sauces. Its healthy, quick and easy and very tasty, I promise. It really doesn’t cost a lot to put this gorgeous family favourite meal together.

This recipe will typically serve 2 adults and 2 little ones.

Ingredients

Fry light cooking spray
250g 5% fat mince beef
1 garlic clove
1 onion
1 carrot
300g mushrooms
1 tin of chopped tomatoes with herbs
100ml beef stock
275g dry spaghetti

Method

  1. Fry a large frying pan with fry light cooking spray and place over a medium-high heat. Add in diced onion, diced mushrooms, grated carrot, garlic and mince beef. Stir fry for about 5-10 minutes.
  2. Drain off any excess fat before adding in the chopped tomatoes and 100ml of beef stock. Bring to the boil then reduce the heat and leave to simmer for about 20-30 minutes.
  3. Cook the spaghetti following the instructions on the pack
  4. Drain the spaghetti and serve with the Bolognese

Sometimes I like to sprinkle a little bit of grated cheese over the top, especially if I haven’t had my hexa at all during the day. There you have it, a recipe for a yummy family meal.
